IPICO
Sports Announces Bib Tag Solution
Company launches Dual Frequency Bib Tag at the first
IPICO Sports North American User Group Meeting
Peoria, Illinois, USA –
January 16, 2012 IPICO Sports announced its much
anticipated Dual Frequency (DF) Bib Tag solution at the
IPICO Sports North American User Group Meeting held in
Houston, Texas this week. The IPICO Sports DF Bib
Tags were used with great success in Houston at the U.S.
Olympic Trials Marathons on Saturday, January 14.
IPICO Sports will offer
several options for the DF Bib Tag – both an adhesive
label and an integrated bib number format. The
integrated bib number will be available in both generic
and fully-customized versions and will be delivered with
race-ready “bib-to-tag” mapping files.
IPICO Sports President
and CEO Gordon Westwater said, “We are pleased to
launch this new product offering at our North American
IPICO Sports User Group Meeting. Our customers
requested a Bib Tag solution that would work with their
existing IPICO Sports Timing Systems. The
performance of our award-winning Dual Frequency sports
technology platform provides superior precision,
accuracy and reliability. The DF Bib Tag is a
great complement to our current tag portfolio.”
The IPICO Sports DF Bib
Tag was developed under the direction of Marius Van Dyk,
IPICO Sports Technical Director. He explained his
team’s design intent, “It was important for us to
provide a bib number-based option with similar
performance characteristics to our IPICO Sports Shoe
Tags. With the newly revised X8 DF chip, we were able to
develop a bib tag that meets our high standards.
Our customers will be able to use the IPICO Sports DF
Bib Tag with their current systems immediately, and
we’re certain they will appreciate the performance and
ease-of-use.”
The tag is available in 3
single use versions, a fully custom integrated bib tag,
a generic integrated bib tag and an adhesive ring tag
for application on customer supplied bibs. Each
bib tag order will ship with a bib-to-tag mapping file
to facilitate tag distribution and the race timing
application.

About IPICO Inc.:
IPICO Sports’ next-generation tracking and
timing solutions are developed by IPICO Inc.
IPICO has succeeded in the RFID sports market due to its
unique technology based on the IP-X™ RFID
Air-interface Communication Protocol. This technology
was developed to overcome the limitations faced by
conventional Reader-Talk-First (RTF) protocols in the
market. In addition, the patented Dual Frequency
technology eliminates signal loss and tag read
collision. The Dual Frequency technology works
especially well for objects high in liquid, carbon and
electronic content, such as the human body. The
complimentary superiority of these technologies provides
the ability to read multiple tags while dealing with
motion, distance, crowding, demanding environmental
conditions and a variety of materials – all variables
commonly found at many sports activities. Since an
initial market introduction in March 2007, IPICO Sports
systems are now used in over forty (40) countries, and
continue to develop and grow a loyal following
throughout the globe. IPICO is a wholly owned
subsidiary of Trilon Bancorp Inc. (“Trilon”), an
affiliate of Brookfield Asset Management Inc.
