Amuck Nears Sellout with 3,000 Runners Slated for June
16 Event
Kids Run Amuck on MCB Quantico Already Filled to
Capacity
QUANTICO,
VA (May 25, 2012) - Run Amuck, a 3.5 mile mud and
obstacle run on June 16 is open with only limited
registration available at www.marinemarathon.com.
Kids Run Amuck, geared for runners ages six to 10 years
is now sold out of all available registration.
Organized annually by the Marine Corps Marathon (MCM),
Run Amuck takes participants through a series of arduous
obstacles, military PT exercises and descents into large
mud pits throughout Quantico's hills and trails. This
year's Run Amuck includes even more grubby mud,
on-course misting stations and new obstacles to include
the Ammo Can Carry, Berm Climb and Striking
Shields.
Both events start and finish at Quantico's Barnett
Field, located at 2073 Barnett Avenue, and run
throughout Quantico streets and into the hills and
trails adjacent to Butler Stadium.
Kids Run Amuck is a one-mile run that includes hale bale
jumps, belly crawl, rope climb, mesh tunnel crawl, cone
slalom, mud pit and spuds buds hop!
"The MCM is pleased to offer even greater
challenges for Run Amuck and Kids Run Amuck participants
this year," says Rick Nealis, MCM Director.
"Since the MCM Event Series began in 2008, the
popularity of these running events has expanded beyond
the Quantico gates and across the country, resulting in
an annual sellout of Run Amuck entries."
Run Amuck opening ceremonies begin on Barnett Field at
7:45 a.m., with the start of Kids Run Amuck at 8 a.m.
Run Amuck runners will gather for the 8:30 a.m. start as
3,000 runners take off in thirty waves of 100
participants.
All mud-encased Run Amuck participants will receive a
watering down courtesy of the Quantico Fire Department's
ladder truck, as well as a keepsake towel and
commemorative coin from Warrior Chip after the Run Amuck
finish.
Media interested in covering the mud-covered
participants and activities should contact Tami Faram,
