National Series Looking For Event Directors

The Prostate Cancer Education Council is looking to expand its series of 5k events for 2004 (5 events were held in 2003), according the series coordinator Creigh Kelley. “I'm looking for potential event directors who preferably have run/walk event management companies or clubs; in-house timing (preferably chip timing and no brand preference); in-house email and mailing lists; a relationship with local running stores; and a decent web site with an on-line calendar of events,” says Kelley. Financial and organizational support (including volunteers) is available from PCEC. The window for the events is June – Sept., with possibly some October dates considered.

The cities being looked at include:

-Chicago area
-Phoenix or Tucson
-Louisville, KY
-Charlotte
-Seattle
-Minneapolis/St Paul
-Kansas City
-Cincinnati
-New Orleans
-St Louis
-Atlanta
-Tampa

Interested race directors and event management companies should submit to Kelley their basic fee and the scoring fee for a 500-person walk/run 5k, and expected municipal permit fees for police and city services.

Kelley is interested in fielding proposals as soon as possible and plans to make choices by the third week in November.
