Great Ethiopia Run Returns November 26

Race Results Weekly
By David Monti

The sixth edition of the Toyota Great Ethiopian Run is slated for Sunday, Nov. 26, in Addis Ababa, and organizers are say that former ING New York City Marathon champion, Rodgers Rop, is the leading entrant in the men's field.

Most recently Rop, 30, finished fifth at New York in 2:11:24. He'll be challenged by compatriots Nathan Naibei, who finished second at the race last year, and Peter Nderitu Muriuki, who ran 27:28.35 at the Brussels Golden League meeting last August.

In last year's edition of the race, Ketema Negussie of Ethiopia and the Muger Cement club won the men's race in a course record 28:25, an excellent time for the high altitude of Addis. Genet Getaneh of the Prisons club won the women's race, also setting a course record of 33:06.

More information on the race is available at http://www.ethiopiarun.org.
