I am course director for a 10k that has lots of turns, and requires far too many volunteers. I think I can keep the key elements of the course and cut out some turns.
I am looking for a way to make adjustments on computer and get measurements,so I do not have to physically measure each option. Then after narrowing down some options, I can go check the best ones.
Anyone done something similar?

MapMyRun.com would be your best bet. If you want to really reduce your course volunteers then do an out and back course (because it would be only 3.1 miles of course and not 6.2 miles). When you do this, you need to make an area where distance can easily be added or subtracted so that if you have it certified you can keep your start/finish line in the places you want them.

I'll check out that site and see what I come up with. Unfortunately we have several spots that we have to get in for the run and it is a hill run, so we have to get in the hills.
There was a committee that did the initial design, and everyone had their adgenda. So now I have tons of volunteers to manage.
Thanks for the map idea!
