Here's a classic shot of a race director's nightmare. The elite section of this event gave away $300,000 in prize money. They need to go back to the basics of traffic control.

That is one crazy picture.

They call me 'Mr Cone' because of my obsession with cones, traffic management and lead bicyclists. I cringe at even the thought of a runner making a wrong turn, cars on the course that's a nightmare, and that picture is everything wrong at once.
I have delayed the start of races but never canceled one mid flight, but if I saw things were that bad I might just do so. Safety has to come first.
