Default Social Media tools to boost early registration

I am looking to understand how race directors are using social media to better influence early registration. We are researching ways to use new Facebook open graph technology to provide incentives to athletes to share early registration discounts with friends. It seems like it would be effective to offer athletes an easy way to share the discounts with their friends in order to get them. The "share on Facebook or email" tools just aren't getting it done, are they?

At our upcoming Race Directors' Meeting we will discuss this subject.

11:50 A.M. - 12:50 P.M. New Developments and Innovative Uses of Social Media
A case study of how the Columbus Marathon utilizes Facebook, Twitter, blogs, Pinterest, and social media in general. We will also look at how social media continues to evolve at other events and how it can be a useful and needed tool for event directors. What new uses and opportunities are on the horizon?
