Default B-Tag

With ChronoTrack releasing the B-Tag anyone have any feedback on this system? Dtag? Pros & Cons.

Also any J-Chip users out there? Feedback on the system.

Thanks

Default Ultra System

I would look into the new Ultra system by RFID Race Timing. I have looked at Ultra and Chronotrack and out of the 2 I liked the overall set up of Ultra better. Also they have a better arrangement for tags.

I work for RFID Timing in Europe and we've got two large Clients just dropped chronotrack and Jchip for the ULtra.

The B-tag just isn't in the same league as the PowerT tag. we've done head to head tests and they are worlds apart

Can you be more specific as to what you mean when you say they are worlds apart?

Well, OK I should say we have not tested them personally yet but a few companies are coming out with new (passive UHF) tags that have better read distances and better accuracy with and are not nearly as sensitive to tag orientation as some tages are today.

Also de-tuning of the tags due to the proximity of the body is being addressed as well if I interperated the tech talk correctly.

Since they are not on the market yet I do not know what brand they will be manufactured under.

If we turn our timing mats onto a horizontal plane we can read a tag about 30m, more like 40-50 but safely at 30m

We've used the chronotrack ( both bib and dog bone) tags and taped them to our body (simulate a sweaty runner with his tag stuck to him run over our system and no read

our tag, same experiment reads every time.

Default LA Marathon Problems

Anybody heard about problems with B-Tag at the LA Marathon? I've heard that up to 5% of the runners were missed at the finish line. I'd kinda like to hear the real reason for the problems, if any, rather than rumors.

Yes, the body does a great job of de-tuning most passive tags. I think that is why running events are trying very hard with a shoe tag and the arched B tag would I guess in theory reduce the de-tuning since it is away from the body.

Is your PowerT tag a BAP tag? (battery assist). We may want to look your direction depending on our results at our next event.

Slade- I haven't seen the B tag. Is it really arched? If so, how do they achieve the arch (ie, how is it oriented.) From photos i saw on the net, I thought the B tag was a Raflatac Viper tag.
