In a special one-day Road Race Management Workshop, we'll
explore these topics and more. In advance of the conference
we'll survey race directors to inventory what steps are currently
being taken to green-up events across the country. We'll look at
events from start to finish, and not just on race day.
- What have races done to eliminate the paper trail from
brochures and posters to publishing post-race results?
- Where can race directors go to source recyclable or
compostable materials?
- How far can you push a sponsor to become more green?
- Do green initiatives preclude certain sponsors?
- Will runners pay a premium for organic cotton t-shirts or
green merchandise?
- Will "going green" attract new sponsors?
We'll also take a close look at the Credit Union Cherry
Blossom Ten Mile Run to see what they're doing and where they might improve - all in the spirit of learning
how we can all produce more eco-friendly events. This "audit" of Cherry Blossom should help you
develop a checklist of things to consider doing for your next event. At the end of the day, you should
have a clear sense of where your event stands on the scale of zero to green.
